Why Hairdressing?
"By chance - Offered an apprenticeship in Christchurch, so went there to live and train for a few years. Why do I still do it? Have such a love for many different parts of our trade. I love being an employer and part of such an awesome team."
Why Vamp?
"I wanted a salon for all the wrong reasons initially (17 years ago now!)I have been blessed with lovely opportunities from generous people to experience nearly every different area of hair.
While my skills aren't too shabby, I have found due to the mere explosion of Vamp - that I am much better behind the scene's, concentrating on the marketing and branding of Vamp.
I also wanted a completely different look for my salon. I always thought they should be fun and interesting. So with this version of Vamp.... I went BOLD!
What is your role at Vamp?
"I just manage behind the scenes - host regular meetings and just make sure we push ourselves with targets and make and attain goals. Do a wee smidge of hair on my faves!"
WHat is your bag? Ya know... What do you love doing and what are you fabulous at?
"I love cutting and I think it is my "thang." I have a great understanding of hair types and what will work for you. Also what can be and will be the most flattering for the client. BUT now it is all about staying on top of ALL of the thing's.""
Career achievements?
"What I view as my greatest achievement is... having Vamp for 17 years is my grandest achievement in hair. I have received provincial and national accolades in the hairdressing industry and they have been awesome and extremely flattering."
Celebrity hair crush - whose do you want and whose would you kill to do?
"In the dream hair sector - Blair Lively, Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Anistons colour - of course that would mean HER skin tone too... AND whose hair would I love to do, Katy Perry, Kelly Osborne,- Nikki Minaj and her awesome wigs. Due to how playful they are with their hair!"
Fave music?
"Varied... Faves are Dean Martin, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, White Zombie, Steve Earle band, Frank Sinatra, Nine Inch Nails, Deep Purple, The Animals, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, G 'N' R, Halestorm, Buckcherry, Godsmack, Tom Petty, Neil Young... I could go on and on and on....."
Fave food?
"Sushi and Thai."
